SHAY GIVEN

Born: 20/4/76 Height: 6’1”

Shay started his League career with Glasgow Celtic before he signed for Blackburn Rovers. He had two loan spells with Swindon Town before he moved to Sunderland on another loan spell during the 1995/96 season. His inspired form for them helped them win the First Division title - in 17 games he kept 12 clean sheets - and saw him brought into the Irish Senior squad. He made his debut against Russia at Lansdowne Road on March 27th 1996. During the 1998 season he moved from Blackburn Rovers to Newcastle United.

ALAN KELLY

Born: 11/8/68 Height: 6'3"

Son of Irish goalkeeping legend Alan Kelly snr, and brother of B international goalkeeper Gary. Alan junior started his career at Preston, the club where his father achieved fame. Initially a defender, he earned his pro contract after moving into nets and spent nine years at Deepdale, winning youth and U-21 caps for Ireland. His career was almost ended by a motorcycle accident, but he recovered to join Sheffield United in 1992. As the Blades flitted between the top two divisions, Kelly proved his class and was promoted to Jack Charlton's Senior squad. Injuries allowed Shay Given to step in during Mick McCarthy's reign but Kelly took advantage of an injury to Given to reclaim the number one jersey. Blackburn regular before Graeme Souness' appointment at Ewood Park, has gone on loan to Stockport until the end of the season.

DEAN KIELY

Born: 10/10/70 Height: 6'0”

Qualifies for the Republic with a father from Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. He began as a schoolboy with West Brom before spending two seasons with Coventry City including a short loan spell with Ipswich. Dean signed for York City in 1990. He spent six years there, winning promotion to the second division via the playoffs at Wembley in 1993. Joined Bury in the summer of 1996 and won a second division Championship medal in his first season there. Although Bury were relegated from the First Division, his performances earned a June 1999 move to Charlton Athletic. Won his first caps for Ireland in the Euro 2000 play-offs.

NICKY COLGAN
Born: 10/10/70 Height: 6'0”

Drogheda-born Nick Colgan joined Chelsea while still a teenager. However, he made just one appearance there in five years, though he gained a lot of experience going out on loan to Crewe, Grimsby, Millwall and Reading before joining Bournemouth permanently. He moved to Hibernian in 1999, helping the club to the SFA Cup final last season. He made his Senior debut against Denmark in March 2002
